Good Slideshow Tips

There are slideshows, and there are good slideshows. If you are investing time and money in putting a slideshow for your company, your website, an anniversary, a bachelor/bachelorette party, or birthday celebration, make sure that you come up with a memorable one. People won't easily forget a good slide presentation and that is what you want to achieve after all.

Most slideshows out there are very bland and boring simply because they do not have much to say, at least not coherently. Therefore, you need your show to follow a storyline, meaning that you need to introduce your subject (people or place), then expand on it (show them under different circumstances), and then bring it to a conclusion – just like a movie.

Slideshows that are simply limited to projecting slides without a cohesive sequence will put an audience to sleep in a matter of minutes -- and they'll hate you for it.

Here is an example of a very good slideshow is found at:

If we analyze that excellent slideshow, we will see that it introduces the subject or erectile dysfunction with very suggestive images. Then it moves to a series of slides that display the causes for ED, such as illnesses, smoking and so forth. Then it expands on the subject by providing imagery and information that corresponds with potential ED treatments, such as psychotherapy and ED medications, such as Viagra.. And finally, the slide presentation concludes by making very useful recommendations. That is what a cohesive sequence is all about.

Lastly, if you want to add music to your presentation, make sure that it won't detract the attention of the public from the principal message of the presentation. Remember, unless the slideshow is strictly about a band or a musician, music should only be included to enhance the presentation, to support it and make it more interesting, and not to slap the audience on the face with your "superb" taste in music.

Once you think you're done with putting together your slideshow, let it sit there for a few minutes to a few days if possible, and don't think about it. Then take a look at it again to iron out the kinks that you were blind to while in the creative process. Other than that, I wish you the best with your next slideshow presentation!
